Achievements. New Truce.

The ‘NEW TRUCE’ project, supported by the Youth Opportunity Fund, was led by a group of Truce 2020 graduates who were involved in running the events, publicity, designing T shirts and leaflets, monitoring, evaluation and finance for the project.

Young people put on ‘Peer Mediation’ and ‘Big Up and Cool Down’ programmes and acted as role models for young people at different events organised by Newham council.

The aim was to reach 72 young people by March 2009 but we beat that target and actually ran workshops for over 114 pupils from 6 different secondary schools in Newham.

Klaudia Brezna of Conflict & Change said, ‘Watching our young trainers manage quite large and challenging groups of young people was a joy. All of us were extremely proud. The New Truce gang was particularly pleased when we received a letter from councillor Lakmini Shah, who thanked us for our hard work and said how impressed she was with the facilitators’ skills and energy.  She also expressed her interest in supporting the work we do in the future, which is very exciting. I would like to take this opportunity and thank all the young people for all their hard work and commitment. Guys, you are brilliant!!!’
