Truce 2020. People.

Truce 20/20 works because of all the people involved.

Most importantly, local young people aged between 16 – 21 years old,  from a range of backgrounds, faiths, interests and experience. In the four years since the Truce project was launched, over 148 young people have been trained in conflict resolution, mediation and design and facilitation of workshops.

Since the Truce 20/20 steering group has been established in 2008, the views of young people have been central to the development of the project and they have always remained at the heart of its decisions.
The Truce 20/20 is run by a Steering Group comprised of 12 former Truce graduates; taking responsibility for the general running of the project and planning its development and growth. The steering group members have been fully involved in ongoing processes of reflection over Truce 20/20 and its achievements. They have explored the current challenges faced in their community and decided on future projects for Truce 20/20 that will impact on Newham in a positive way. This is the steering group.

Klaudia manages the overall project full-time, with Selina working part-time alongside her work at Conflict and Change.

The ‘Workshop for Peace Builders’ is delivered by Conflict and Change’s trainers, who facilitate the National Open College Network programme in conflict resolution, mediation and peacebuilding leadership skills.

Our project wouldn’t be able to happen without all the partners we link up with, not just locally in Newham but nationally and internationally.

From local youth clubs to the Royal Commonwealth Society and the British Council, working with other project and organisations means we can develop projects and opportunities for Truce graduates, benefiting more young people.
